The Abbasid Revolution was the rebellion in 750 which overthrew Umayyad dynastic rule of the Arabian empire, inaugurating the Abbasid Caliphate.[1]
The survivors of the revolution, including Umayyad prince Abd al-Rahman I, were driven west and established themselves in the Iberian Peninsula, founding the Emirate of Córdoba.[2]
