I rewrote the first line to conform with Dynasty's description of the event before (and to make it more different from Wikipedia's lede). It is not common for us to call that state Arabia nowadays, but this is the term Dynasty uses & I think it was correct for the Umayyad period since their policies were Arabian ethnonationalist. / I also wanted to make sure to include "caliphate" somewhere b/c that is an important concept behind this event.

The Abbasid Revolution was the rebellion in 750 which overthrew Umayyad dynastic rule of the Arabian empire, inaugurating the Abbasid Caliphate.[1]

The survivors of the revolution, including Umayyad prince Abd al-Rahman I, were driven west and established themselves in the Iberian Peninsula, founding the Emirate of Córdoba.[2]
