Screenshot

Just dropping by to say, greatest screenshot ever. I've been laughing myself silly at it for the last couple of days, especially because of this. Kudos to you, good sir. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 07:26, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

I will totally put up "Ratonhnhaké:ton angrily forfeiting the game." caption there.

Moar images? :)

Hey, Kain; as you may have noticed, I've got another "project" in my sandbox. Would you be able to supply images for me, once I've written all of the text? --Crimson Knight Intercom 20:10, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

It's gonna be tricky, unless you don't mind a screen showing both stats and the name obscuring part of the weapon, since that's the shitty way they've set them up. Example.--Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 21:34, March 23, 2013 (UTC)
Ouch, that is indeed painful... Still, maybe we'll just wait until I've finished with the text. --Crimson Knight Intercom 22:26, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

I'm sure that a small bit of... whatever that could be called, shouldn't hurt the renders too badly. Or could they be edited out? Either way, when do you think you can get them up? --Crimson Knight Intercom 16:19, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Well, I can get you the images in the next 15 minutes, having finished the game and crafted all the crap there is. Can't render though, replaying AC2 up to Battle of Forli. From the start. For screens. Also my god, is it hard to unlearn the control scheme from AC3 and get back to the mindset of AC2. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 16:26, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
I suppose images will be fine for now. When you say "can't render", do you mean that you can't render them right now, or they can never be rendered? If it's just you not being able to do it right now, I might try a hand at it myself, or I'll get some lackey to do it for me.
Trying to unlearn the controls is a pain; I've been trying to play through II again, myself, but just can't be bothered. --Crimson Knight Intercom 16:36, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
You guys think that is bad. Try playing AC3 on a controller for a few months and switching to the keyboard for AC2. I'm replaying AC2 and it's sooooo hard.
EDIT: Proof read Hanger's Sword.
Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 16:42, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

I think images from the Manor's stands would be superior to the shop inventory. Most weapons actually fully show, as do the descriptions and stats. Example.--Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 17:00, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Why.

Here's the deal: I'll never say "period" as long as you never say "boner". Those are my terms; accept them, or draw your sword. --Crimson Knight Intercom 15:21, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

It's a boner made out of pure hatred. I'll spare you the details what it spews, just know that it arises when I see stupidity like someone inserting an image in the middle of a sentence, rather than at the start of a paragraph. And I know it was Bob who did that, not you. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:25, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
It's not exactly my fault since the paragraphs were too small and visual mode wasn't working. Still I take full resposibilty now, since I notice that you have fixed and that saves me a lot of work.  And "boner"? Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 16:38, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Game Capture - Part 4: Wiki Images

Howdy, Kain. I got your message and while I don't enjoy being whipped or thrown down stairs, it was the motivation I needed to turn this lazy day into a lazy day with minor productivity. I recorded the first memory and took three shots to replace current ones. Problem is, as Sima pointed out, each image has a little black line at the top, and I have no idea what setting to alter in my recorder to fix it. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 00:56, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

It might be like with ACs on the PC - none of the games has a proper 5:4 aspect ratio, resulting in giant black bars at top and bottom. Maybe something like that happened here, to a lesser extent. Are you recording at the same native res your tv allows? --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 06:29, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

Your tech talk is beyond my comprehension. How do I check that? Stormbeast The Helpful Place 18:38, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

Simple way - crank up the game to maximum available resolution, take a screen. Then progressively lower the resolution settings, taking a screen after each downgrade to see if the bars are still there. If this won't solve anything, I'll think of something else. Also give me specs on your capture soft. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 18:48, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

Kain, do you know of any other communication medium that would be faster than these talk-pages? I have the day off tomorrow and would prefer it if you could talk me through this swiftly. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 06:48, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

Set up an IRC time. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 08:12, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

TLA images

Any suggestions on what sort of pictures for The Lost Archive memories? Wouldn't mind replaying it (again), and being on a PC, it should be easy, too, but I'd like some kind of guidelines on what the wiki wants... :) Sadelyrate (talk) 14:14, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Well, you know the basics - 1920x1080 if you have the monitor, no subtitles, a couple of shots in each room showing the progression through it, maybe some shots of the images appearing on the walls, etc. Standard stuff. Basically just snapshot alot of them and cherrypick the results for best ones. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:02, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll get to it as soon as I can! Sadelyrate (talk) 15:08, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Broken Trust

Hey, I uploaded that image as I felt the one of Kanentokon dying didn't show Connor's emotions as well. Should I just reupload in png or let you do that when you replay it? --Alientraveller (talk) 22:56, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

I'll get it when I'm able, since yours was lower-res than the rest. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 23:24, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

Deletion tag

Will you please stop putting the delete template on any newly uploaded unsourced image as soon as they show up? Most new people are not aware of the sourcing policy and they deserve a little time to properly source it after they are notified. If they ignore it, then we'll take care of it regardless of the template. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 13:07, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

I've seen unsourced images stay up without a template. And it's not like it's permanent, they can always edit it out and put in the source. Besides, what real use are seventy million of the same random images that often don't even get put on a user page, and are uploaded just for shits and giggles, because apparently people think we're facebook? --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 13:10, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
If they're not sourced, they don't stay longer than a few days. If the admins forget, and we always check the feed, Vatsa's bot removes any unused image. Your current argument comes down to basically 'why not', and my point is that it is not needed. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 13:13, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

A favor

Heya Kain, I had something I wanted to ask. If possible, could you get me a few screenshots of ACR's maps of Constantinople (with all the shops and landmarks)? Uplay ate my save again and I'm too busy with exams to replay Revelations from the beginning. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 12:42, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Shur. Do you want separate screens for landmarks and separate for shops or just bundled together? I have a complete save ready, just need specifics. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 16:53, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Bundled together is fine. Separating the screenshots by districts would help though. Thanks :) ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 08:04, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

I am slowly moving through these. Writing my MA thesis takes up time though, so it'll be a short while before they're done. Doesn't help our supervisor is batshit insane and wants 10 pages every week for the next three weeks. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 01:06, April 26, 2013 (UTC)
No worries, take your time; I'll be swamped till early June with revision classes, tests and actual exams myself. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 05:55, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

Piece of Eden map

To stay on the subject of the Piece of Eden map, I noticed that the list of "Known locations of Pieces of Eden" on their article contains quite a few incorrect assumptions. Given that the map from AC2 is a hand-drawn one and quite an incorrect portrayal of the globe, would you be able to get shots of the entire map from the globe projected by the Apple at the end of AC1? -- Master Sima Yi Talk 19:18, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

I think I can manage at least four decent shots until the camera zooms out too far to be useful, maybe more. I'll post them up once I got them. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 19:33, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

Image Size

So, am I allowed to upload 1600 x 900 sized pics or is it a must to upload it in 1920 x 1080. Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 03:45, April 27, 2013 (UTC)

It's a prefference to upload 1920x1080. Unless you've got shots from the non-main games like Liberation and such, then understandably you can add lower-res shots. What did you want to add anyhow? We could get you higher res images via the Image requests. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 11:49, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
I just thought that I could provide images for the wiki. But the problem is my res is kinda low on 1600 x 900. Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 12:51, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
Technically I can't stop you, but they'd be upscaled sometime later on. So it's up to you Bob. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 12:55, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I'll just wait untill I upgrade my system. Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 13:04, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
Widescreens are pretty cheap at the moment, I got my 23" for 170 bucks or so. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 13:26, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
I don't think anything is wrong with my monitor. I think that it's my graphics card. I have a pretty shitty RADEON HD 6570, and it's not overclocked. Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 13:11, April 28, 2013 (UTC)
Could be. But if your monitor doesn't support a res above 1600x900, changing graphics card won't do anything. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 14:32, April 28, 2013 (UTC)
Just checked. My monitor supports upto 1920 x 1080. So it's a problem with my graphics card.
P.S: Heard 'bout the nVidia GTX TITAN? Now that's a GPU. Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 01:58, April 29, 2013 (UTC)
Ehhh, I just wanna buy something supporting Dx11. Crysis 3 has been collecting dust on my drive for months now, because the bastards didn't advertise the fact it would be 11-only, with no support at all for 9 or 10. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 02:00, April 29, 2013 (UTC)
You don't even have a DX 11 campatible graphics card ?! Get a GTS or GTX card. Mine is Dx11 compatible. Anyway, what's your current graphics card? Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 02:20, April 29, 2013 (UTC)
A 9800 GT with 1 gig aboard. Worked well so far. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 02:22, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Images

I see that you are online now, and since you're working on images now you may be the best person to ask. I made some image requests on the AC:IR page, about First Civilization script and images of the Grand Temple. I realize that not everyone wants to do everything, but I'd really like to have those images before Friday so I can work on a revamp of the First Civilization page, since I will have barely any time after that. Do you think you would be able to tackle it? -- Master Sima Yi Talk 22:16, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

I can get you the image of the script in five minutes, but individual rooms will take time, as my backup save reaches only to the departure from Kanatahséton into the Homestead. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 22:19, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Sold. By the way, first five Assassination contracts are coming up soon-ish. 25 remaining from AC2 in the coming days.--Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 20:33, May 4, 2013 (UTC)
Heh. I was just about to write a note about this... :) Sadelyrate (siniath)

Gondolas

Florence has gondolas. Ezio did not carry his father's and brothers' bodies onto a speedboat!!!!!1!! -- Master Sima Yi Talk 14:06, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

I was thinking of AC2 when I removed that, didn't remember any by then. Also, that was just a TARDIS disguised as a gondola. Designed to blend in and all that. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 14:07, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
There are no speedboats in AC2. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 14:08, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
I will eat your face. With ketchup. Also I'm gonna get images for BH memories once I'm finished with AC2 contracts and remaining sequences. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 14:18, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

Good jorb

Hey, Kain. I would just like to commend you on the work you've been doing lately with the Assassin's Creed II side missions. However, as Crimsicon pointed out, some of your pictures have the Apple of Eden in its pouch on Ezio's side. So, yeah...whoops. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 21:38, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

I know, but it's an irrelevant detail in my book, since I went for all the side stuff during Battle of Forli memories to have all of them unlocked, but before Ezio grew a beard. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 21:42, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
You know we don't seriously have a problem with it, right? --Crimson Knight Intercom 21:45, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
I will eat your faces regardless. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 21:47, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

Le Vote

Change the render of Altaïr, you said the date was 15, it is 16 here. Please change it to the render with most votes.

Captionalign

Why not position all thumbnail captions, and all other text, in the center as well? Captionalign="left" has been used by everyone since before all new people got here. I'm not breaking any 'standard format'. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 22:59, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

Thumbnails across the articles are fine with left align. But galleries look nice and symetrical with centered caption. Loads of articles use this here, and I'll stick with it. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 23:00, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
And I'm the one acting based on personal preference? I pray you see the irony in this. You and Slate changing all captionaligns to center because, as Slate put it, 'looks better', doesn't make it the 'standard format'. The 'loads of articles' that use it are the ones you changed. Either make it a vote or stop doing it. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 23:03, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
Nobody ever reverted the caption changes except you. Others have been making galleries with centered ones too. And I'll put it to a vote, sure. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 23:05, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

Birdman

So it appears that a person who played Batman shall play a guy who played me. Coincidence? I think not. --Crimson Knight Intercom 17:09, May 22, 2013 (UTC)

Awesome music

Hi Kain, if you like the ME3-esque soundtrack you should check out this guys music, it is awesome and it's free :D KaloneousHelpDesk 03:21, May 25, 2013 (UTC)

This pleases me. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 03:33, May 25, 2013 (UTC)

Problem

Kain, I gotta problem with my Computer. There is a white line running horizontally on my Monitor. Is this a GPU problem or a monitor problem.

P.S: I took a few screens and videos with FRAPS and I couldn't see the white line. That means it's a monitor problem right? I just wanted to be sure.

P.P.S: I kinda want it to be a GPU problem since I can then upgrade it. Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 14:14, May 27, 2013 (UTC)

Have you tried messing with the settings, moving the display, unplugging the monitor, etc? Exhaust all the possible options. But generally it means your monitor is on the way out, since it doesn't appear on screenshots. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:02, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
I've tried everything, but it's not working. Guess i'll just have to buy a new monitor huh? :( Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 15:14, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
Apparently so. But do consult google first, I might always have missed something. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:24, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
Checked it. It says that I need to buy a new one *sigh* :(. Do you know how this could have happened? Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 15:33, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
Not a clue, really. If your monitor's old, it might just be the sign of aging. Otherwise, some sort of internal damage is likely. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 18:15, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks dude. I'll be giving my monitor for a checkup. :) Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 01:53, May 28, 2013 (UTC)
Yer welcome, Bob. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 03:13, May 28, 2013 (UTC)

Homestead Missions

When I created the memory articles, I made sure to create the articles in order of their availability in-game. Most are right, up until the ones created by Nesty. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 15:46, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

I've opted for the DNA menu order rather than how they pop up, since later on you have multiple available at the same time. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:50, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
Except some memories aren't available until you help out other residents. I made sure to keep track of what was uplocking what. It was quite complex, but I had it straight. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 15:53, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
We'll do it your way then. Just make sure all the memories are chained together in the infoboxes. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:56, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
That's the thing...they aren't. Some of them have nothing following and some have nothing before. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 15:57, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
Suggestions? Also, would you mind helping out with the galleries, V never adds captions to these when he uploads his images. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 16:03, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

None at the moment. I'd have to start a new file and do them over again. Where would you like me to start on the galleries? On another note, isn't "Is" a verb? Meaning it should be capitalized? Stormbeast The Helpful Place 16:07, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

You can add them wherever you see a lack of them, doesn't really matter. As for the capitalization, I'm not sure, we never had a precise pattern for these. AC2 memories suffer from this too. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 16:10, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

rope darts

why did you undo my edits SHAOLIN ENLIGHTENMENT 16:25, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

One edit. Singular. It was written in wrong tense and opinionated, since a rope to hang people up and one for travelling across cities are two very different things. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 16:34, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

Haytham image

Hey there Kain, since I noticed that you've been adding images to the Wiki lately for the Homestead missions, I was wondering if you could grab an image for me.

On looking at Haytham's page, a duplicate image is used where he's beating up Benjamin Church, one for the relevant section and one for personality and characteristics under "showing his vicious side". I was wondering though, can you obtain an image where he's either slitting the British officer's throat in Fort George, shooting the man in the brewery where Church's decoy is, or the man near the cart close to the church that Connor meets Haytham?

I figure they would show off his brutality without a duplicate image being needed. Slate Vesper (talk) 10:33, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

We got the last one up in Missing Supplies, but I can get the others too, soon. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 10:57, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

That sounds great, thanks. :D Slate Vesper (talk) 11:16, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

Achilles' funeral

Hi Kain, it's great you're illustrating the rest of AC3's memories. Just checking, are you aware the last few Homestead missions are unlocked after the Battle of the Chesapeake (you have to fast travel back there after the cut scene in New York.) That way you accurately show Connor before his 1782 haircut. Alientraveller (talk) 18:14, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I know, I'm slowly getting there. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 18:26, June 21, 2013 (UTC)
