: I'm actually '''not OK''' with this. Your redesign is advertising-heavy and hides both usability and community elements that are currently present on our Wiki. You place advertising-like elements at the top of the page, and move navigation elements like the Portal below. You delegate our currently active community elements under the giant "BUY NOW" ad where they are likely to be missed and, from a UI perspective, are hard to use now from cramped space.
: Portal was a UI project we started a long time ago to make navigating the Wiki easier. It or some equivalent should be at the top, as we have it now on our homepage, as it will see the most clicks from users. Below that, we should have exemplars of good community work and then community links so that people can get involved. Advertisements for purchase should be relegated to the sidebar where Wikia already places ads.
: Moreover, we have not had a good experience with the Discussions element that you are pushing so hard. Our community came from IRC and we maintain a Discord-IRC bridge for our users. We would rather this be immediately visible to users on the homepage as it is now, rather than Discussions.
: You're also not giving our community much time to provide input on this. This by far my biggest complaint -- we have an active community that is willing to provide feedback on these elements, and we should not railroad that community with a redesign they had no input on and is awash with more advertisements.
: I appreciate the work you've done with the Portal Slider work that we've seen at other Wikias, like Dragon Age. I've been fighting with that code in what little free time I have ever since a Wikia update broke our ability to use closing div, td, tr, and table tags in the previous incarnation. I would be happy to help with the porting of the code, but please '''DO NOT''' overwrite our homepage with your draft without first securing community approval through our [[Special:Forum|Forums]]. Hello, all! This is the Raven's Nest, my little corner of the world for you to leave me messages. Usually you can find me in IRC between 9 and midnight CST, but my IRCbot, TheRaven, will watch this page for me too. Older messages are archived at the archive page. Thanks!

DarkFeather
Hi again, it's Darman. Cruising through "Videos" and I'm finding a lot of videos that (1) are "gameplay walkthroughs" or unrelated to official promotional media, (2) aren't linked to anything, and (3) were uploaded by Users who haven't been here for some while. At least, according to my sample of 5 pgs. Since the site's devoted to AC lore, walkthroughs / help questions aren't really accepted here. Shouldn't these be deleted? I don't mean to seem like I'm requesting immediate removal, but I thought I should bring it up. You can reply on my talk pg if it's easier. --Darman (talk) 00:40, March 26, 2016 (UTC)
- Hey, Darman, these have been discussed a lot. We are no longer maintaining walkthrough pages, but we don't really have a problem with linked videos. I'd point you to Assassin's Creed Wiki:Relevancy for more -- those walkthroughs are technically relevant, especially for folks interested in the series who don't have rigs that can play the games. As for videos that aren't linked to anything, feel free to make a category for them and I can review them. I hope this helps DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 19:09, March 28, 2016 (UTC)
- Hi back. I tried to reach you on IRC, but while I was in the right time window, I just missed you each time. It's the unlinked videos by Users:[InsertName], who haven't edited since Dec. 2015, that I (and others? Unsure...) take issue with; I wasn't thinking of tampering with linked ones. If I read you right, I can create Category:Videos for Review for unlinked walkthroughs, and you / another Admin will review when you have time? Darman (talk) 22:09, March 28, 2016 (UTC)
- Yep, that will work -- don't trust my away status. Just say hi and I'll respond ASAP in IRC. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 15:46, March 29, 2016 (UTC)
- OK. Just to clarify for the videos I've added so far: I'm not requesting deletion for all, just confused why they're here (hence "Review") but unlinked, even if from official channels like Ubisoft itself, IGN, &c. --Darman (02:55, March 30, 2016)
- EDIT: If you have any questions on why I thought Video [InsertTitle] should be reviewed, just give me a shout. --Darman (03:21, March 30, 2016)
- EDIT 2: DONE! So many videos... Most of them are unlinked, but there are 1) duplicates of official ones; 2) files we either don't have or I missed seeing them, e.g. the ACU Experience #4 vid; 3) files this Wiki doesn't have but feature in other-language ACWikis, even when they have their own copy of the file; 4) or ones I thought were really irrelevant to the wiki. I tried to categorize objectively, but you can overrule my decisions. There are other problematic videos I didn't touch, but that's another story for later. Thanks again for allowing me to do this. Good luck sorting them. Darman (talk) 05:24, April 17, 2016 (UTC)
I'm kinda confused on your decateogrizing. Why decategorize the Glyph videos? The User hasn't been here for 5 yrs, and the "Glyphs" page was already live when they made their page. Aren't the videos redundant? I don't mean to sound angry, I'm confused because I thought you'd understand why I added them. To hopefully clarify any potential future misunderstandings, I've organized the disputed videos in my Sandbox & tried to justify my decisions. Feel free to discuss on my talk pg if needed. Darman (talk) 00:46, May 12, 2016 (UTC)
- So my general philosophy there has been that if they're in use then I don't have time to go back and handle all the deduplication in individual edits. I'll look through your Sandbox. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 18:46, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
Bloodline Equivalents
Found the Bloodlines weapons' visual equivalents after wiki digging. Weapons are named exactly, e.g. "Yusuf's Turkish Kijil", and have different stats than their equivalent:
- Maria Thorpe's Longsword = Roman Longsword (ACB)
- Fredrick's Hammer = Lucerne Hammer (ACB)
- Mace of the Bull = Condottiero Mace (ACB, ACR)
- Dark Oracle's Bone Dagger = Bone Dagger of Romulus (ACB)
- Twins' Rapier = Sicilian Rapier (ACB, ACR)
- Bouchart's Blade = La Volpe's Bite (ACB)
Here are better images than my forum post's video. I forget, did you say it was OK to use the main game weapon renders for these weapons? Darman (talk) 22:01, May 5, 2016 (UTC)
- I think it would be until we get better renders. I'm going through the category for videos now. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 17:26, May 8, 2016 (UTC)
Wait, "it would be OK", or "it would be best"? Slightly confused... Why better renders? The ACBL weapons are basically visually identical to the listed ACBH weapons, at least to me. Or is there a signif. render quality b/w AC2 & ACB? --Darman (talk) 01:56, May 9, 2016 (UTC)
- It'd be OK -- best option would be to rip the renders directly from the source game. Barring that, if we can find the models in others, that works. Still cracking on your videos. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 18:13, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
Wiki Slider
Hi DarkFeather, my name is Roranoa and I come from the One Piece wiki. Right now we're in the middle of redesigning our main page and we are trying to switch over from the traditional carousel slider to the slider like the one here on this wiki. That's easier said than done however. The code is very complex and we have no idea what to do, even our best coder who is a VSTF is stumped. We have most of the stuff for the slider planned out (content wise). Any chance you could please lend us a hand? :D My sig kind of broken right now so message me here [[1]] {{SUBST:User:Roranoa_Drake_II/sig2}} 21:02, July 24, 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Dark!
I would like to know your opinion about it: Thread:206794 (I'm talking to all Assassin's Creed wikis about it).
Best Regards! :) TheCreedX (talk) 17:49, July 28, 2016 (UTC)
- Apparently, the majority has given its opinion, could you check, please? :) TheCreedX (talk) 00:34, August 3, 2016 (UTC)

Hey DF!
Can you hit me up on the IRC sometime when you're available? I should be there (unless I'm sleeping). Thanks! Crook The Constantine District 10:03, June 12, 2017 (UTC)
Background for MonoBook skin
Hey, I'm not sure who is responsible for updating the backgrounds for the wiki, but I've noticed that we have a custom of constantly changing it to reflect the newest main installment. This was done for Origins for the standard Wikia layout, but I actually use the older Monobook layout. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who ever uses this skin, but it has gotten its background routinely updated as well seeing as it's currently of Syndicate. In any case, no one has updated the skin for the Monobook version of this site, and I'm not sure who normally does it, but I thought I might ask around. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 06:34, June 26, 2017 (UTC)
- I need to do some updating of Portal tonight anyway, so I'll see what I can do bringing Monobook into the Origins era. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 19:24, July 3, 2017 (UTC)
Ubisoft-partnered Origins redesign
Hey hey :) As Raylan13 mentioned to Master Sima Yi last month, FANDOM have partnered with Ubisoft to give AC wiki a main page redesign for the release of Origins. That mockup is now complete and received Ubisoft's approval yesterday. You can see it at our sandbox. While it's mostly feature complete over there, you will find the odd thing that will work better once it gets ported over here on the live wiki. In particular, there are some navigational elements that depend on the category tree that exists here but would be needlessly time-consuming to replicate on a sandbox wiki.
That's why we'd like to implement here over this weekend and then tweak it with your help. So please take a look and see if there are any major issues you have with it before we bring it over. Once we get it over here, you can look it over with a more detailed eye, and we can take your concerns back to the Ubisoft reps to negotiate the final, locked design.
