Assassin's Creed: Embers is an animated short film project designed to expand the Assassin's Creed series. It was revealed by Ubisoft on June 6, 2011, and is set for release on November 15, 2011 with the release of Assassin's Creed: Revelations Animus, Collector, and Signature Editions.
This short film was created and produced by UbiWorkShop, and was completely developed internally at Ubisoft Montreal. UbiWorkShop teamed up with two other teams: Ubik, and a team from the Technology Group, to create the film.[1]
The teaser trailer was released on July 21, 2011.
At the Comic-Con 2011 Assassin's Creed: Revelations Panel on July 23, 2011, the panel explained that the Embers film follows an older Ezio (set more than a decade after the events in Revelations[2]) with his family, now living in Florence. He fears not only that he is running out of time, but that someone is trying to hunt him down. By this time, Ezio has a daughter named Flavia and a son named Marcello.[3]
Embers is described as a narrative in the game that you cannot play. The panel recommended watching Embers after completing Revelations, so that the events that unfold are experienced in sequence.
The film will run for 21 minutes, offering a unique experience of Ezio's life and bringing further closure to the Ezio saga.
The transcript of the Comic-Con 2011 Assassin's Creed: Revelations Panel is available here.
During the Comic-Con 2011 Panel: Assassin's Creed: 'Creation of a Universe', the full trailer for Embers was revealed.
