Ziyad ibn Salih (Chinese: 齐亚德·伊本·萨里; Arabic: زياد ابن صالح; died c. 752) was an Arab general who served as governor of Samarkand under the Abbasid Caliphate.

In 751, Ziyad commanded the Abbasids under caliph Abul Abbas As-Saffah during the Battle of Talas, where they defeated the Tang army of the Anxi Grand Protectorate led by Chinese general Gao Xianzhi. Following the battle, Ziyad ordered his men to eliminate any surviving soldiers, but spare craftsmen in hopes of learning the papermaking techniques from them.[1]
