Yuri Petrovich Figatner (1889 – 1937) was a Soviet party functionary under the regime of Joseph Stalin and a member of the Templar Order. After the Templars infiltrated the Politburo, Figatner was assigned to head a special government commission in 1928 to investigate the Russian Academy of Sciences and purge it of "counter-revolutionaries", turning the Academy into a Stalinist organization.[1] Many Assassins – who had been allowed to make use of the Academy's facilities under Lenin's regime – and scientists loyal to the Assassin cause, were killed or forced into hiding as a result.[2]
