Biography
Immigration to the United States
After Ashraf's daughter Layla was born in 1984 in Cairo, Egypt, the family immigrated to the United States in 1986,[1] before settling in Queens, New York. Where his two sons would later be born, immediately granting them American citizenship. Ashraf, his wife and daughter later became citizens through the naturalization process.[2]
During his daughter's childhood, Ashraf and Zeinab were often at their wit's end by Layla more interested in dissembling her toys rather than playing with them.[1] Around the same time, during the 1990s, the family celebrated the Islamic holiday Ramadan in a big fashion, something that they would remember fondly.[3]
Supporting his daughter
In the early 2000s, after his daughter had graduated from highschool, Ashraf began to pressure her into enrolling in tertiary education. After noticing her promise in engineering, he enrolled her in the University of California in Berkeley under the electrical engineering program.[1]
When his daughter got a position at Abstergo around 2011, Ashraf was ecstatic, bragging when he could that his daughter being "on the cutting edge of neuroscience." Though he did not quite understand what she did, he was still very proud of her.[4]
Death of his daughter
The last contact he and his wife had with Layla was in the Winter of 2019, in August 2020 when they asked Rami about her whereabouts he had told them she was on a research assignment in the Amazon, unbeknownst to all of them, Layla had sacrificed herself for the good of humanity within the Yggdrasil Chamber, an Isu facility located within Hordaland, Norway.[5]

Ashraf (أشرف) is an Arabic name meaning "most honorable one" or "very noble". He shares his given name with Ashraf Ismail, the game director of Origins. while Hassan (حسن) is a common Arabic surname meaning "strong, good".
