The Vanguard was a type of guard found in Aletheia's simulations of Elysium, the Underworld, and Atlantis. These heavy guards often bore a large shield and a heavy weapon. Like the other types of soldiers used in the simulation, Vanguards were mind-controlled humans kept in check with Torches of Hypnos.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra encountered a large number of these enemies during her travels in the simulations.[1]
