Uplay is a service created by Ubisoft to provide an experience similar to the trophies/achievements offered by Sony and Microsoft respectively. This service is provided across all three platforms (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360) and is currently in beta stage. Six other Ubisoft games feature Uplay, Splinter Cell: Conviction, R.U.S.E, Pure football, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, The Settlers 7 and Silent Hunter 5.
Each game has 4 achievements that are unlocked as you progress through the story and each earns you Uplay points (The first being 10U to the last being 40U). These points are then used to unlock game related awards.
You can also use the Uplay service called "Assassin's Creed II - Web Battle" to view list of in game statistic and to get additional web-based achievements and rewards.
