Tom was, as of 2012, a member of the Assassin Order, who constructed the Animus virtual machine in the Assassin hideout with the assistance of Lucy Stillman.
When Lucy and Desmond Miles arrived at the hideout, they were joined by Michael, who embarked on a rampage after they rejected his participation in the Animus, in favor of Desmond. Michael kicked Tom in the stomach, and proceeded to stab Tom and Desmond with his hidden blade. However, he was eventually knocked out by Lucy, after which she, Tom and Herman Geier began to monitor Desmond's time in the Animus whilst viewing the memories of his ancestor Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
