Concept art of Thorgest's Shield

Thorgest's Shield was a type of light shield once used by the first King of Dublin, Thorgest.

In the late 9th century, it was rediscovered in the middle of Lough Neagh by the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, after defeating the last two drengir of Thorgest, Hogne Sea-Tossed and Blud the Giant. The shield was used during Eivor's travels throughout Ireland.[1]
