Thomas Knyvet, 1st Baron Knyvet (1545 – 1622) was an English courtier and a Member of Parliament.

In 1581, Knyvet was gifted a residence on the future site of the 10 Downing Street by Queen Elizabeth.

In 1605, Knyvet was known for his participation in foiling the Gunpowder Plot, arresting Guy Fawkes and fouling his plan to destroy the Palace of Westminster.[1]
