Stede Bonnet can be described as a man who always sees the bright side of things, and is more than gracious to people who help him, as shown by his great respect for Edward Kenway, who saved his life. However, he always found a positive side, as he was very happy about the profit he made in Havana despite some cargo being stolen.

Stede Bonnet

Stede Bonnet (c. 1688 – 10 December 1718) was an early 18th century Barbadian pirate of English descent who sailed the Eastern Seaboard of the Thirteen Colonies with his crew. He was nicknamed "The Gentleman Pirate".

Stede Bonnet met Edward Kenway on Cape Bonavista, shortly after the latter had killed and assumed the identity of Duncan Walpole, an Assassin who planned to sell a blood vial to the Templars. Bonnet was being harassed by several British soldiers who mistook him for a pirate, following a sea battle between Edward's and Duncan's ships.

After Edward saved Bonnet, he offered to take Kenway, who introduced himself under Walpole's name, to Havana, which is where Bonnet was headed in the first place. After arriving in Havana, Stede and Edward headed into the city, eventually ending up in a merchant house. Edward was recognized by a privateer, who knew about Kenway being a pirate, and the two engaged in a fight.

After the fight, Bonnet was mistaken for Kenway's accomplice, severely beaten by the Spanish guards, and had his sugar confiscated. After Kenway returned from avoiding the soldiers, he found Bonnet badly beaten by the docks, who told the former that the soldiers had confiscated Edward's pouch, as well as his sugar. Edward agreed to retrieve Bonnet's sugar when he went to retrieve his pouch. Fortunately, despite Kenway not retrieving Bonnet's sugar, he was still able to make a profit with his remaining inventory. Kenway then confessed his real first name to Bonnet.

Later on, Bonnet spotted Kenway with the Templars and called him by his real name, nearly blowing his cover, which Kenway was quickly able to talk his way out. Kenway later met with Bonnet and complained about the small pay he received from the job; Bonnet, on the other hand, was really trying to inform Kenway of his great sales from the day.

Bonnet went on to sail under Blackbeard for a time, until he acquired his own ship. During a time skip, Bonnet had been captured by British soldiers and hung for his piracy. However, Bonnet left clues of his adventures for Edward.

Later on, Edward followed in Bonnet's footsteps on the island of Saint Lucia, and uncovered the secrets of the pirate's adventures.
