Samuel Elbert (1740 – 1 November 1788) was an officer in the Georgia State Navy and a Colonel in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.

In 1779, the Assassin Connor was concerned Elbert had joined the Templars, and instructed his recruits to remove him from his command under general John Ashe. However, at the Battle of Brier Creek, Elbert was captured by the British, rendering his assassination unnecessary.[1]
