Robert Ignatius Topping (7 July 1847 – unknown) was a member of London underworld who organized carriage races and fist fight tournaments throughout the city during the mid-19th century. In 1868, he became involved with the Frye twins.
Biography
In 1868, Topping journeyed to Croydon and was caught snooping around the lab of a Templar named David Brewster. The Templar believed him to be a spy and had his men interrogate him. Fortunately for Topping, he was saved by Assassin Evie Frye, who only intervened because he had the key to Brewster's lab, but declined to free Topping. Thus, Topping used his carnival skills to escape his bonds, vanishing while Evie had her back turned.
Topping later traveled to London, where he became a bookie, organizing fist fights and carriage races. He ran into Evie and her twin brother Jacob and offered them spots in his events.
