The Ranger was a brig, owned by the pirate named Charles Vane, during the Golden Age of Piracy. He captained the Ranger until the year 1718, when it was severely damaged in battle with a slaver ship owned by the Royal African Company.

Following this, Vane's associate - Jack Rackham - led a mutiny against him, leaving him and Edward Kenway stranded on the unrepairable Ranger, near the island of Isla Provedencia.
