The Apophis Project was an Isu scientific project sealed away in the vault underneath the Valley of the Kings, Egypt. Little is known about the nature of the project, other than what was revealed by the Isu Seth, who used his Staff to weave an illusion of an apocalyptic London, England to an Assassin cell to explain what would happen if the vault was unsealed. In the vision, the city was in endless night, corpses littered the streets, buildings were little more than ruins, and the Thames was dry and lifeless.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
At the end of the "Champions of Eden" campaign, the Assassin's Creed Roleplaying Game sourcebook gives a few suggestions on continuing the storyline, including what the Apophis Project actually is. In one hook. the project leads to a cataclysm that wipes out most of humanity allowing Seth to rule over the ashes; in another, Apophis was an Isu who was turned into a living weapon now close to being released. A third hook suggests the Project is a device that facilitates the resurrection of Isu trapped in the Grey, with the note that hook could tie into the "Lost in Time" storyline revolving around Juno, while the final option proposes it is was already enacted and turned humanity into horrific monsters, and that the modern day sequences of 2016 are simulations relived by protagonists' 2055 descendants who seek to restore the world.
