Officials were minor assassination targets, who often claimed to have witnessed the crimes of Assassins, and testified against them.

Should Ezio Auditore da Firenze commit a crime or assassination in their city, officials, who were normally respected members of the society, began to falsely declare that they had personally witnessed him committing the crimes.

Ezio would seek them out to assassinate them, and silence their testimonies. However, officials were often paranoid, and would flee as soon as they caught sight of the Assassin; unless he was blending with nearby civilians.
