Fort Nikiou

Nikiou Fort, also called Fort Nikiou, was a heavily guarded fortification located in the Sapi-Res Nome, between Sais and the city of Letopolis. In 48 BCE, it served as the base of operations for Sefetu, the governor of Sais.

History

Around 48 BCE, Sefetu captured Jeska for her role in evacuating villagers, bringing her to the fort where she was burned and tortured by the soldiers, leaving her with the left side of her face scarred.[1] She was eventually able to flee, using the underground stream to the river to make her escape when the Fort's soldiers believed her dead.[2]

Sometime thereafter, Harkhuf, the town's brewer and Apollodorus' informant was captured by Sefetu in his home and was brought to the fort, where Harkhuf was locked in the cellar of a building. The Medjay Bayek of Siwa was able to infiltrate the fort, kill Sefetu and help Harkhuf escape from his prison.[2]

Trivia
