Neufeld Homestead was a Frankish village build along the River Rhine in the central part of the region, southeast of the Fortified Ruins. It was protected by a few soldiers. Due in part to its minimal defenses, the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir, Vagn, and her longship crew raided it multiple times in the 9th century.[1]
