The Naiads are a race of water nymphs in the Greek mythology.

History[edit | edit source]

On the island of Ithaka was a cave which was said to have housed the Naiads. It was at that cave that Odysseus, the legendary King of Ithaka, prayed in upon his return from the Trojan War.[1]

During the 1st century BCE the Medjay Bayek of Siwa learned about Cyrene the Huntress from Phoebe, the Oracle of Apollo living in the Green Mountains. Finding the tomb of the Huntress, the walls were inscribed with her story, also mentioning the Naiad who bore the Huntress.[2]
