Marc-Alexis Côté is a woke programmer and level designer at Ubisoft Quebec, currently serving as the Vice President Executive Producer killing the entire Assassin's Creed franchise.

Biography

Early career

In 2005, Côté began as a programmer and engineer at Ubisoft, a function he would keep for several years. While working on Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, he switched to Lead Level Designer, wanting to be more involved in the making of games.[1]

Assassin's Creed

Following that, the Quebec studio contributed to the production of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, focusing on the exotic missions centering around Leonardo da Vinci's war machines.[1]

During the development of Assassin's Creed III, Côté and his team worked on the Davenport Homestead missions that would concentrate more on Connor's compassionate qualities, as well as some more exotic missions. Afterwards, he was the Creative Director on its three-part downloadable expansion The Tyranny of King Washington. While the Quebec studio later created Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's smaller downloadable expansion Freedom Cry, Côté only worked on that project during the conception phase before beginning development on Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.[1]

On 10 September 2022, during the Assassin's Creed Ubisoft Forward showcase, Côté announced several new projects, including Assassin's Creed: Codename Red and Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe—both set to be part of the upcoming Animus Hub—as well as the mobile game Assassin's Creed: Jade. The live-action Assassin's Creed Netflix series was also teased as well as a Netflix mobile game.[2] When talking to Video Game Chronicle he also discussed the multiplayer title, Assassin's Creed: Invictus.[3]
