Mantua is a city in Italy.

In 1503, Italian Assassins Francesco Vecellio and Tessa Varzi foiled an assassination plan by Cesare Borgia on Urbino's duchess, Elisabetta Gonzaga, by removing her from Rome and placing her in a carriage bound for Mantua. She arrived safely at the city but soon returned to her family in Urbino.[1]

In the autumn of 1854, Felice Orsini who was imprisoned in the city before escaping, fled to a villa on Lake Como ran by Laura.[2]
