Kára was an Asgardian Isu and a Valkyrie who operated the arena, Kára's Domain, in Svaladal, Svartálfaheimr.

History

Little is known about Kára save that her job as a Valkyrie was to ensure worthy warriors' path to their righteous afterlives of Valhalla. After some time, Kára was reluctantly stationed in Svartálfaheimr to find more warriors for Odin's forces.[1]

During the Muspel invasion on Svartálfaheimr, Odin found Kára and spoke with her at her arena. During their conversation, Kára mentioned that her work produced little to no results of any einherjar to help and fight alongside Odin for the upcoming battle of Ragnarök. However, Odin proposed that he could reenact his old battles to inspire the arena warriors to prepare for Ragnarök. Kára also held and sold various equipment, runes, and weapons to Odin, who purchased them with the tokens he received after his reenactments.[2]

Legacy

Despite being attested in Norse sagas, Shaun Hastings was unfamiliar with her.[1]
