Knockfree was a small settlement in western Meath, Ireland.

History

In the late 9th century, Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan visited Knockfree to meet with Flann to discuss the next stages of winning over the land of Ireland. From their meeting, Eivor gained an alliance with the Southern Army.[1] Later, Eivor met with Flann and her cousin, Bárid mac Ímair, King of Dublin, in Knockfree, to discuss their strategy to divide Connacht and Ulster. Their aim was to conquer Cashelore, but its defenses were apparently impenetrable until Eivor volunteered to open its gate. Setting their plans, Flann and Bárid agreed as Eivor set to lower Cashelore's doors.[2]

Through her journey, Eivor agreed to help Azar build Dublin's trade connections and decided to find and rebuild any of Ireland's trade post.[3] After securing the Drumlish, Eivor had to find its deed, which was found to be somewhere in Knockfree. Investigating Knockfree, Eivor found the deed near a tower, with some skeletal remains. With the deed, Eivor rebuild and reopened the Drumlish trading post.[4]
