"Time passed. The child grew inside me. And then he entered the world. He had his father’s features but enough of me that he did not appear a stranger. In the end it mattered little. My people loved him as their own. I miss Haytham sometimes. He may have even loved me, in his own way. But his eyes...his eyes were always fixed on the future - one in which he and his Templar brethren controlled all. My greatest fear is that one day I shall look into the face of my son and see the same dark hunger there."

Kaniehti:io (1731- 1760) was a Mohawk woman and the mother of Ratonhnhaké:ton. She was an ancestor of William Miles and Desmond Miles.

Biography

Kaniehti:io was captured and was specially escorted to slaver Silas Thatcher along with other members of her tribe. However, her convoy was hijacked by Haytham Kenway and his men, which led to her and her fellow Natives' freedom.

Later, Haytham decides that Kaniehti:io would be a vital ally in helping his Order find the Temple of Those Who Came Before, whom are sacred gods to Kaniehti:io's people. After befriending one another, Haytham gains her trust by retrieving military plans from a fort. When they find the entrance to the Temple, however, Haytham's given key didn't work, and the two reveal their feelings for each other and sire a son, Ratohnhake:ton.

Years later, Kanieht:io would realize that the man she loved was a Templar, and began to fear that her son might inherit his malevolent father's ambitions.

Kaniehti:io's village was attacked by Charles Lee and Haytham's followers, who burned it down and subsequently killing her in the process.
