Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenberg (c. 1400 – 1468) was a German goldsmith, inventor and printer.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Gutenberg started work on his printing press in 1436. 3 years later, Gutenberg and his associates invented their first wooden press in Strasbourg.[1] The invention evolved greatly over the following years which allowed for the mass production of printed books.[2] In 1455, Gutenberg printed an estimated two hundred copies of the Bible.[1]
