The howler monkeys (Alouatta) are a genus of monkeys. They bare their name due to the loud howls they use to communicate with oneanother.
During the Golden Age of Piracy howler monkeys could be found in the Bahamas, including Kingston, Cape Bonavista, Príncipe, Long Bay, Cat Island, and Tortuga. Pirate Edward Kenway often hunted howler monkeys for their pelts.[1]
