Guy Fawkes (13 April 1570 – 31 January 1606), also known as Guido Fawkes while fighting for the Spanish, was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
After his capture, Guy was trialed and executed in the Palace of Westminster.[1]
In 2010, Shaun Hastings, while working as a junior professor, taught a course that included the 1605 Gunpowder Plot. As a result, on December 9, Shaun took the pseudonym "Guy Fawkes" when he released a letter detailing Abstergo's inner workings to WikiLeaks.[2]
When Abstergo Industries CEO Alan Rikkin ordered the letter to be pulled, he incorrectly stated that Guy Fawkes was involved in the French Revolution. When Caroline Grey corrected him, he snapped at her, claiming "We are making history here, the past is largely irrelevant."[2]
