The Golden Feather of Ajax was a golden eagle feather.

History

According to the stories, the feather was either gifted to the legendary hero Ajax, son of Telamon, by the god Zeus, or plucked from the body of Zeus himself while he was an eagle. Later, it was woven into Ajax's shield of seven ox hides.[1]

During the 5th century BCE, a group of bandits broke into Ajax's tomb on the Isle of Salamis, and claimed the feather.[2] It was later seized by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, and brought to the pirate queen Xenia at her request.[1]
