The Gjallarhorn Sword was a heavy weapon inspired by the 2017 game Destiny 2.

Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relived Eivor Varinsdottir's memories, modified her Animus to include this great sword as part of the shieldmaiden's arsenal.[1]

Behind the scenes

The weapon shares its name with an exotic rocket launcher, which can be earned after completing various events or a specific side quest in Destiny 2. Its description reflects its function in Destiny 2, as the gun can be used to great effect by raining incendiary missiles on distant enemies.

Additionally, in Norse mythology, Gjallarhorn was the horn used by Heimdall both to drink out of Mímisbrunnr and to signal the beginning of Ragnarök with a blast heard across the Nine Realms once he saw the giants approaching Asgard's borders.
