Girolamo Savonarola was an Italian Dominican priest and leader of Florence from 1494 until his execution in 1498. He was known for his book burning, destruction of what he considered immoral art, and hostility to the Renaissance: Bonfire of the Vanities.
Description
After the death of Lorenzo de' Medici, the priest Girolamo Savonarola took over the city using the Apple of Eden. After having united the city under the Templar banner, he started to destroy all Rennaissance art pieces, wanting to go back to the Medieval times. The Assassins began resisting Savonarola's rule, with the Assassins Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Niccolò Machiavelli being the ones to fight against the priest and thwart his plans. Eventually, Savonarola died by the Assassins' hands and Florence was freed from the Templars.
Trivia
- It has been revealed that he was a Templar[1], though this is weird since his greatest opponent in the real historical context was supposed to be Pope Alexander VI, a.k.a. Rodrigo Borgia, leader of the Templar order in the game canon (he is even the one who excommunicated Savonarola, and ordered his execution).
