Francis of Assisi (1181/1182 – 3 October 1226), born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon and preacher. He is one of the most venerated religious figures in history.
After his death, Francis' life was immortalized in frescoes painted by Domenico Ghirlandaio on the Sassetti chapel of Santa Trinita in Florence, Italy.[1]
