A fox

Foxes are small canine mammals endemic to every continent but Antarctica.[1] Culturally, they are associated with cunning and wit.[2]

History

During the 9th century, wild foxes roamed the English countryside and even the streets of London.[3] Although exceedingly rare, these foxes could be domesticated, as was the case of Dandelion Puff, a fox who was adopted as a pet by a woman in Oxenefordscire after being mistaken for a dog. Following her owner's death in a house fire, Dandelion Puff was rescued and subsequently adopted by the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan.[4]

The late 15th century Italian Assassin Gilberto adopted the alias "La Volpe", meaning "the Fox".[5] When he opened a tavern in Rome at the turn of the century, he accordingly named it La Volpe Addormentata ("The Sleeping Fox").[6]

In North America, foxes were hunted for their pelts and tails throughout the colonial period. The Templar Shay Cormac mixed pelts from both red and arctic foxes to make a large pistol ammunition pouch,[7] while the Kanien'kehá:ka Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton sold fox pelts and tails for money.[8]

Animus mods

In 2020, while reliving the genetic memories of the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir through the Portable Animus HR-8.5, the Assassin Layla Hassan modified the Animus interface to allow for a variety of skins to be applied to her horse:
