Fedor Vasilievich Tokarev (2 June 1871 – 6 March 1968) was a Russian weapons designer and deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union from 1937 to 1950.

Biography

After a long career in as a soldier in the 12th Don Cossack Regiment and an armorer-artificier, Tokarev eventually turned his entire attention towards weapons design. He worked to convert the Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle to a semi-automatic rifle and experimented on various firearms. His most famous weapons were the TT-30 and TT-33 semi-automatic pistols and semi-automatic SVT-38 and SVT-40 rifles, all of which were extensively used by the Red Army during World War II.
