The Cursed Gorgoneion was a xiphos which belonged to the Greek hero Perseus in the Isu Aletheia's simulation of the Greek underworld. After the death of the Gorgon Medusa, her remains were gathered and turned into this blade, which was thus imbued with a shadow of her legendary powers.
During the Peloponnesian War, this sword exchanged hands after the Spartan misthios Kassandra defeated Perseus.[1]

Behind the scenes
The Cursed Gorgoneion, a weapon in the Assassin's Creed: Odyssey's DLC The Fate of Atlantis: Torment of Hades, shares the same model as the Gorgoneion Xiphos, a weapon in the main game. The only difference is the addition of a glow and the different color variation.
