The Clan Hemmingsons was a Norse clan which originated from Norway during the 9th century. Led by jarl Hemming, the clan migrated to England sometime during the Viking expansions into Great Britain where they came to settle in Snotinghamscire.
Through the efforts of Hemming, Clan Hemmingsons made peace and united the Saxons and Norse in the county, allowing both groups to live together in harmony and peace.[1] The clan was also affiliated with the fellow Norse Raven Clan, with Hemming being friends with jarl Styrbjorn Sigvaldisson of the Ravens. Hemming's son Vili was also a childhood friend of Styrbjorn's adopted daughter, Eivor Varinsdottir[2]
