Chiang Kai-shek (31 October 1887 – 5 April 1975) was a Chinese political and military leader who served as the leader of the Republic of China between 1928 and 1975. While Chiang was an influential member of the Kuomintang, the Chinese Nationalist Party, he was also secretly a member of the Shanghai Rite of the Templar Order.
In 1927, as the relations between the British Templars and the Shanghai Rite became tense, the young Darius Gift was sent to China to deliver a package to Chiang and to bring him back into the fold.
