The Cave of Potnia Theron was a cave north of the Huntress Village on the Greek island of Chios.
DUring the Peloponnesian War, the cave was inhabited by a lone bear and was explored by the misthios Kassandra, who slain the bear and looted the valuables within.[1]
Behind the name[edit | edit source]
The name of the cave, a location in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, references the term Potnia Theron (Mistress of the Animals) used by the author Homer to describe female divinities associated with animals, especially the Greek goddess Artemis.
