Ezio, my friend! How may I be of service? This article is in desperate need of a revamp. Please improve it in any way necessary in order for it to achieve a higher standard of quality in accordance with our Manual of Style. |
The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, commonly called the Duomo, was the largest cathedral of Florence. It was here, in 1478, that Lorenzo de' Medici and his brother, Giuliano de' Medici, whilst attending High Mass, were attacked during the outbreak of the Pazzi Conspiracy. At the time, construction of the basilica was complete for the most part, though the front face was yet to be finished.
In the lanterna atop its dome stood the sarcophagus of the Assassin Iltani, along with her seal. Alongside the basilica stood Giotto's Campanile.
