The Casa di Vespucci (English: House of Vespucci) was the residence of the Vespucci family in Florence, Italy during the late 15th century.

History

Construction

Built by a distant great-great uncle of the famous Amerigo Vespucci in 1350, the relatively unpresumptuous Vespucci residence is notable for displaying the first painted facade in Florence, a style that was later used much in the Oltrarno District.[1]

Auditore family visits

In 1476 Ezio Auditore da Firenze followed Cristina Vespucci to her home, where he defended Cristina from an attack from Vieri de' Pazzi. Ezio and Cristina then became lovers, but their relationship was cut off when Ezio went into exile.[2]

Ezio returned to the house in 1478 to resume the relationship, but Cristina had already become engaged to Manfredo Soderini.[3][2]
