Thais was a Greek lumber merchant who lived on the island of Chios during the 5th century BCE.
Biography[edit | edit source]
During the Peloponnesian War, Thais was one of the merchants whose trade and profits suffered as the products they sold to the leader of the Petrified Islands were used to trade with other Greek city-states. To this end, Thais enlisted the aid of the Spartan misthios Kassandra, requesting her to eliminate the leader based in Mytilene on Lesbos. Once she had completed her task, the merchant sent her reward to her ship.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The name of Thais, a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, is actually a female name, most famously born by a mistress of Alexander the Great.
