On average yes, people of the older generation (Not our parents, so nice try) don't comprehend technology enough to get used to videos games today.  For instance, try teaching an elderly man to use the "mouse" of the computer to click something.  He won't know how to do it even though it has been visually demonstrated to him many times over.  Do you know why? Intimidation, he's afraid of the new technology and how advanced it is compared to what he had grown used to as a child, and it's like stepping out of his comfort zone.  Something which that is difficult to do when you're older, and do you know why? As you grow older, you become more... ah... psychologically solid, if you will.  Whereas young people are more used to adapting and improvising because not only are their minds younger but they are also inexperienced (Counting for myself as well).  Older people, for them? They've seen it all, as well as the fact that their minds are older, and an older mind has more trouble processing and understanding information.
