Sir Charles Barry (23 May 1795 – 12 May 1860) was an English architect, best known for his role in rebuilding the Palace of Westminster in London during the mid-19th century.

After the palace had burned down in October 1834, Barry was hired to rebuild it in 1844. When it was decided that the new palace would include a clock tower, he hired the renowned clockmaker Lewis Vulliamy to design the tower's clock.[1]
