Ahmad Shāh Durrānī (c. 1722 – 16 October 1772), also known as Ahmad Khān Abdālī, was an Afghan chief and the founder of the Durrani Empire.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1747, the Assassin Salah Bey killed the Iranian ruler Nāder Shāh. Through trickery, Ahmad ensured that Nāder's large diamond, a Piece of Eden named the Koh-i-Noor, ended in his possession. Salah planned to pursue Ahmad in order to claim the gemstone for the Assassins, but he was unsuccessful and the Koh-i-Noor stayed with Ahmad.[2]
