The Abbazia di San Mercuriale was the main religious building in Forlì. It was located on the central square of Forlì and near the Palazzo Comunale.[1]

Ezio Auditore da Firenze was able to learn the identity of the nine-fingered monk who stole the Apple of Eden from the monks of the abbey.[2]

Database Entry

The tower of the Abazia di San Mercuriale, with its height of 75 meters, is one of the tallest in Italy. The first church on the site was destroyed by fire in 1173. The present structure was built with brick in the Lombard-Romanesque style and took only 7 years, making it one of the most miraculous construction jobs in the history of Italy.

The colonnade to the right of the church is part of the abbey's cloister.[1]

Trivia

  • A glyph can be found on the inside arch of the abbey's courtyard. It faces east.[1]
  • It is the tallest point in Forlì and Romagna.[1]
