Assassin's Creed: Embers is an animated short film project designed to expand the Assassin's Creed series. Revealed by Ubisoft on 6 June 2011, the film was released on 15 November 2011, alongside several special editions of Assassin's Creed: Revelations. The short film is available in 15 languages, either through voice dub or subtitles.

This short film was created and produced by Ubiworkshop, and was completely developed internally at Ubisoft Montreal. To create the film, Ubiworkshop worked with two other teams: Ubik, and a team from the Technology Group.[1]

Set after Revelations, the film concludes the life of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who retired from his life as an Assassin and lived with his wife Sofia Sartor in Florence's countryside.

In the year 1524, the former Assassin Ezio Auditore retired on a villa at the countryside of Florence, with his wife Sofia Sartor and children Marcello and Flavia. While Ezio was writing in his study, Sofia asks him to watch Flavia while she and Marcello visit Claudia. The next day, Ezio found Shao Jun in his private study. Angry at her actions, he furiously told her to get out. Outside, when he found her, she recited to him a text he had written years ago, and told him she wanted to understand its full meaning. Ezio decided to show it and took her to the Palazzo della Signoria in Florence. There, he told Shao of his life as an Assassin and showed the place where his father and brothers were executed. As they were returning to the villa, they were attacked by a hooded stranger whom Shao Jun recognized as being an Imperial killer. Shao and the man fought, and she dispatched him with the blade concealed in her shoes. It was then that she told Ezio why she had come to meet him.
