Mainly surrounded by marsh-filled areas, the bayou was primarily inhabited by alligators, who had a notorious reputation for attacking unsuspecting prey from the banks, or beneath the murky waters. As such, this made trees both a faster and a safer option for travelers navigating the area.
The bayou also housed many man-made structures, including the town of San Danje, Fort Saint-Jean and the hideout belonging to the mentor of the Assassin Order, Agaté.
