Was looking at a list of traditional Chinese festivals to see if there was a WP page we could link to for more IRL context. I can't find anything specific but given that it occurs in the first month of the year it looks to be either part of the Chinese New Year festivities or part of the follow up Lantern Festival. Not sure if there are enough shared customs such as opening the city to allow the connection to be made and link the page? :When I last checked on the historicity of the "Flower Banquet", I found that the event is almost certainly fictional. For such a well-researched work, this is quite surprising and disappointing, but it seems that the author created this festival as a convenient way to condense a bunch of events that historically happened over the course of months into a single day to fit into a volume. Historical basis?
Was looking at a list of traditional Chinese festivals to see if there was a WP page we could link to for more IRL context. I can't find anything specific but given that it occurs in the first month of the year it looks to be either part of the Chinese New Year festivities or part of the follow up Lantern Festival. Not sure if there are enough shared customs such as opening the city to allow the connection to be made and link the page? Lacrossedeamon (talk) 04:35, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
- When I last checked on the historicity of the "Flower Banquet", I found that the event is almost certainly fictional. For such a well-researched work, this is quite surprising and disappointing, but it seems that the author created this festival as a convenient way to condense a bunch of events that historically happened over the course of months into a single day to fit into a volume.
